Lydian Book Club: How the Scots Invented the Modern World: The True Story of How Western Europe's Poorest Nation Created Our World and Everything In It, 2001 by Arthur Herman
rsvp: info@lydiaartsalon.com, subject: Lydian Book Club
For our second Lydian Book Club, we’ll be reading a wonderful, but dense non-fiction work that may indeed take a summer to read. Consider this your notice! This book is not for the faint of heart. While this tome is chock full of interesting historical stories & insights, we are especially interested in the Enlightenment’s salon culture in Edinburgh. The wonderful ripple effects that occurred, by simply putting a number of interesting & engaging folks in the room together is certainly worth aspiring to! There is much to enjoy in this book, well beyond this topic, much of which is timely. I look forward to having some interesting conversations.
This tome is available as an audiobook, which I'll go ahead and recommend! It certainly makes it easier to move through, and while it's not a thriller, it is super INTERESTING!
