We cordially invite you to Austin's newest art gallery/salon....
It's not a cult.
It's culture.
For the past year, Lydia has transformed itself into an intimate salon setting. Of course, the emphasis is still on ART.
What's changed is how you experience the art. We are fully embracing the concept of the slow art movement.
What does this mean for you as a visitor or member?
We aim to immerse you in a changing format of carefully curated experiences throughout the year. We want you to come on in and hang out, enjoying our new amenities.
Meet new people.
Make new connections.
See new things.
A long and noble lineage.
There once was a King Lydia, an ancient place called Lydia, a Lydian people, a Lydian language.
Our original gallery took its name from its current location of Lydia Street, here in Austin - the intersection of Lydia and Juniper.
Lydia is a name found in the bible and tells a story of an enterprising woman by this name who converted to Christianity and provided one of the very first Christian churches in what is now considered Europe. However, before this church was created Lydia apparently provided her own home as a meeting place for these earliest Christian travelers.
With that story in mind as an inspiration, our new venture is intended to create a welcoming and home-life atmosphere in which to visit and discover new and evolving talents from across the region and country - with more space allowing for the art to be exhibited.
The gallery will offer a new type of membership community, with an eye on creating a new and dynamic venue for the creative arts, as well as a meeting place for those interested in supporting the fine arts.
